The District Attorney's office has appointed a highly trained and experienced staff of investigators who work closely with prosecutors in the District Attorney's office as well as the 11 law enforcement agencies in Rensselaer County. The Investigative Unit is staffed by a Senior Investigator and three Investigators. Members of this unit are police officers with full arrest authority, vested under Article 1.20 of the New York State Criminal Procedure Law and are registered with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.
The Confidential Investigators are assigned to several task force programs that collaborate with law enforcement investigations with local, city, county, state and federal agencies. Task force includes Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE).
