Troy, NY --Rensselaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly announced that two convictions were secured today in an eight-day jury trial and both are Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) cases.
Tried together, Nahsone Pinn, 23, and Eric Stroud, Jr., 20, both of Troy, were found guilty of Murder: Intention, (PL 125.25 (1), a Class A violent felony in the August 2020 death of Zeandre Domingo; and Criminal Possession of a Weapon – 2nd Degree: Loaded Firearm (PL 265.03 (3), a class C violent felony.
The Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) Initiative provides state funding to local law enforcement agencies for equipment, overtime, personnel, as well as focused training and technical assistance. The City of Troy Police Department, the District Attorney’s Office and Rensselaer County Probation all collaborate on the GIVE grant. The grant is awarded annually to select cities throughout New York State.
The District Attorney’s office currently has 58 open GIVE cases. The District Attorney’s office has prosecuted over 250 GIVE cases since 2019.
“This GIVE grant funding is vital to the citizens of the City of Troy. There is a significant need to continue to investigate and prosecute the violent offenders who put our citizens at risk,” said District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly. “Once again, Troy Police detectives put a solid case together for prosecution.”
Pinn and Stroud will be sentenced in Rensselaer County Court on June 29, 2023. Assistant District Attorney Cheryl Botts prosecuted the cases.
