STATE OF THE COUNTY FOR 2023 POSTPONED TO TONIGHT WILL BE FIRST DELIVERED AT NEW COUNTY OFFICES AT 99 TROY ROAD IN EAST GREENBUSH
Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin will now deliver the 2023 State of the County to the Rensselaer County Legislature TONIGHT, Thursday, March 16 starting at 6 p.m. following the postponement of Tuesday’s meeting in anticipation of a major storm.
A decision to postpone Tuesday’s legislative meeting was made, following a series of advisories and a forecast of a major snowstorm on Monday and Tuesday.
The SOTC by McLaughlin on Thursday will be the first delivered at new county offices at 99 Troy Road in East Greenbush. The county moved a number of county offices into 99 Troy Road late in 2022 as part of the Reimagine Rensselaer County Facilities project.
The Reimagine project is expected to be a major part of the SOTC. The Reimagine project includes relocation of offices to 99 Troy Road, and the renovation of the existing County Office Building in downtown Troy. The COB will host human services functions, including the Department of Social Services, Health Department, Mental Health and job training services, along with the county DMV. A satellite DMV will be located at 99 Troy Road.
During Thursday’s SOTC, McLaughlin is also expected to discuss the county’s record of reducing property taxes by 27 percent during the past five years, and the county’s strong performance with sales tax revenues in recent years. The county has also seen significant job creation and investment with companies like Amazon and Regeneron.
Following the rescheduled State of the County tonight, there will be an open house and a reception at 99 Troy Road. For residents unable to attend, the SOTC will be live-streamed on county social media channels.
