NAJII SNIPES SENTENCED IN ASSAULTS

Troy, NY --Rensselaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly announced today that Najji Snipes, 23, of Troy was sentenced today to a total 8 years determinate in prison and 5 years post release supervision for the following charges: Attempted Assault in the 1st degree: Intent to Cause Physical Injury with Weapon (120.10) a class C Violent Felony, after he pled guilty to stabbing a man in Troy on May 27, 2022.

Snipes also pled guilty to Assault in the 2nd degree: Intent to cause Physical Injury with Weapon (120.05) a class D Violent Felony, after his attack on a female guard July 19, 2022 while in custody in the Rensselaer County Jail.

“Crime on our streets and crimes in our prisons will not be tolerated. We are pleased with the outcome considering the witness in the stabbing would not testify against the defendant,” stated District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly.

The Troy Police and the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Departments investigated the two cases. Assistant District Attorney Antonia Edwards prosecuted the cases against Snipes.
