Community Programs

We at the Rensselaer Sheriff's Office take pride in serving and connecting with our community in programs designed to educate and protect our citizens. Our office shares information regularly about its operations, accomplishments, and community events and partnerships.

Community Relations Special Events Participation

You will need to fill out a request Community Relations Special Event Form (PDF). All requests must be in writing. Please submit a minimum of 6 weeks prior to your event.

If your organization is interested in having either Operation Safe Child or a K-9 Deputy attend your event please contact Marcelle Swanberry in the Sheriff's Office.

Operation SAFE CHILD

Operation SAFE CHILD provides parents or legal guardians with a card that includes their child's/children vital information: 

• Date of birth
• Eye color
• Fingerprint images of both index fingers
• Gender
• Height
• Photograph
• Weight

The goal of this program is to record and store the fingerprints, basic biographical information and photographs of children who are not missing. The storage of information gathered will be digitally recorded and stored at a separate database at New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services.
