The function of the county Buildings Department include:
- Grounds keeping for the majority of Rensselaer County's office facilities
- Housekeeping for the majority of Rensselaer County's office facilities
- Maintenance for the majority of Rensselaer County's office facilities
- Provides security services at the Ned Pattison Office Building and the Agriculture/Life/Science Building
- Snow removal services for the majority of Rensselaer County's office facilities
The Buildings Department continues to maintain physical plant facilities at the Rensselaer County Ned Pattison Government Center, Agriculture/Life/Science Building, Troy Senior Center, Hoosick Falls Regional Center, Family and County Court Complex.
